How to overcome Intimidation of the MEGA
I hear it ALL THE TIME. I’ve been wanting to come take a class, but I have been to intimidated to do so. What if I make a fool of myself? What if everyone looks at me? What if everyone is in better shape than I am? and so on. The truth is NO ONE knows what they are doing when they come to their first Lagree class. People will look at you, that is because everyone looks at everyone. Some people will be in better shape than you, and some people won’t. And all of that is OK.
Lagree has been around for years now, but it is NEW to the Dublin community. Once you come to class you will be hooked. My favorite thing about Lagree is how it is a LOW impact workout. You should have no pain in your joints or connective tissues. Everyone should be doing a low impact workout for many reasons. One reason is as we age, we want our bodies to grow stronger and not have issues from high impact workouts we used to do. I don’t even run anymore.
Even though Lagree is low impact it is high intensity, meaning you will get a great workout done in only 45 minutes. The time goes by very fast, you will leave the studio sweating and shaking! The Lagree Method is a judgment free zone and is a great place to make friends and meet people in the Dublin community.
The HARDEST part is booking the first class. You have two options for your first class. The first option is to come to a beginner/fundamentals class. This class is free of charge and lasts 45 minutes. The owner, Lauren, teaches all these classes. She is also a physician assistant and very good at helping clients modify for their bodies. In the fundamentals class Lauren will go over the Mega with you, teach you some of the movements we do the most often, then put you through a mini workout (about 25 mins). These classes are kept very small with usually 4 people max per class. This is to give you 1:1 attention.
The second option is to come to your first 45 minute class. This option is good for someone that tends to work out more or likes to jump right into things. I believe this is the most fun option because you get to see what class is like right away. If you choose to do this, then come 10-15 minutes early to class. This is so you can situated and the instructor can go over the Mega with you, as well as help you modify any movements you may need in class. This class is $5.
My suggestion is to bring a friend with you! Doing things with friends makes it easier and more fun. It takes 3 classes for you to feel comfortable. The first class is always confusing but after that it only gets easier. The workout gets harder the longer you come because your form is getting better BUT coming to Lagree gets easier. It becomes a part of your routine and once you start seeing changes in your body and mindset after only a few weeks you will look back and wonder, how was I ever intimidated of the Mega?
