Transitioning from Pilates to Lagree
A lot of people think Lagree is Pilates or a form of Pilates, when in fact they are very different. It is true that Lagree originated from Pilates. Sebastian Lagree (the founder of Lagree Fitness) taught Pilates to his clients for many years on a reformer. After years of teaching Pilates, his clients were plateauing and wanting better results faster. The reformer had not changed for many years and needed reinventing. Sebastian took the idea of the reformer and created the Megaformer, a more advanced piece of equipment that optimizes the way slow twitch muscle fiber is developed and allows for circuit training of new more challenging movements at the optimal range, angle, tempo, resistance level and duration.
Pilates is great for someone that is getting back into shape after extended periods of inactivity, has had a recent injury, wants to focus mainly on flexibility or someone who only wants a low intensity workout. Lagree is more of a complete workout addressing all aspects of fitness in a 45 minute full body workout.
If you have done Pilates for a while and you are looking for more of a high intensity workout but still low impact, then you are ready for Lagree. Lagree will help you lose weight and tone muscle much quicker, especially if you come to class at least 3 times a week. In Lagree you will improve your muscular endurance, muscle strength (especially your core), cardiovascular system and your flexibility.
If you have been considering trying Lagree for a while, now is the perfect time! We recently added Level 1 classes onto the schedule which is a great way to ease into the method.
